If it comes to python: Don't forget about delta3d and spineless. Delta3d has nice python binding with working python examples, while spineless is complete python engine like soay3d.
PyOgre is finally getting around to being more well supported. The primary developer took a break for a few months, but things are really beginning to shape up over there.

PyOgre is, sadly, not very well-supported. Questions usually get responses like "why aren't you just programming in C++". Sigh.
Consider Soya3d instead.
Wow, it was tough to find the actual Soya3D site. Here it is for the curious: http://home.gna.org/oomadness/en/soya/index.html
Or Panda3D (http://www.panda3d.org. Or Crytsal Space (http://www.crystalspace3d.org), which also has a Python binding.
